COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) — Police say a 12-month-old boy who was kidnapped by a car thief in west Georgia has been found safe.
Early Wednesday morning, Columbus police Sgt. Mark Richards informed search teams looking for the boy that he had been found. Police said the child was found on an unspecified road and was back with his parents.
Authorities say Ronald Gray was taken from a BP station on St. Marys Road Tuesday night, after the child's father left the car running and walked inside the convenience store. Police say the suspect jumped into the unattended car and headed north toward Interstate-185.
Police Sgt. Anthony Locey tells The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer (http://bit.ly/15xcQMq) that it's possible the car thief did not realize the child was inside. Police were still searching for suspects in the case.
