Savannah Food Day Festival
11 a.m.-6 p.m. Oct. 28. Daffin Park. The Savannah Food Day Festival hosted by Well FED Savannah will include thousands of participants, live music, workshops, lectures, and a presentation by the Executive Director of the Center for Science in the Public Interest and founder of Food Day, Michael F. Jacobson. It will be held at Daffin Park Oct. 28.
NAACP Membership meeting
4 p.m. Oct. 28. New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 202 Fair St. The Savannah Branch of the NAACP will hold a Membership Meeting on Sunday, Oct. 28 at the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. The major item on the agenda will be the report of the Nominating Committee for the officers of the Branch for the next two year term. In order to vote in a Branch election, one must be a member in good standing of the Branch 30-days prior to the election. A form of identification is required.
1st Annual Costume Gala
7 p.m. Oct. 28. Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum - Annex. James B. Pennington, owner of Majestic Creations is calling the community to band together in an effort to bring about the awareness of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). Majestic Creations has Deevetkeio Griffeth (CEO of ART CEMM) as a featured guest of the gala. The First Annual Costume Gala will be a fundraising event to include a silent auction, raffle items, and much more. Tickets are $30. For more information, email info@majesticcreations.org.
Free criminal legal advice offered by City
4-6 p.m. Oct. 28. Savannah Entrepreneurial Center, 801 East Gwinnett St. The City of Savannah presents a special clinic on Sunday, Oct. 28, that will offer free criminal legal advice to residents. The criminal law clinic will be from 4-6 p.m. at the Savannah Entrepreneurial Center. The workshop will be facilitated by: Chief Judge Tammy Cox Stokes, Chatham County Recorder’s Court; Attorney Jeffrey Alls, District Attorney’s Office; Attorney Reginald Martin, District Attorney’s Office; and Attorney Stephanie Burgess, Criminal Attorney (Private sector).
The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited and reservations are required. To reserve your spot, contact the Savannah Entrepreneurial Center at 912-652-3582.
St. Thomas accepting grant requests
The St. Thomas Thrift Store is accepting requests from area charities for grants to be awarded at the end of December, 2012. The completed application and supporting documents must be submitted by Nov. 15, 2012 to be considered. Dickens Village Craft Festival

Shalom Y’all Jewish Food Festival
11 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 28. Forsyth Park. Mickve Israel’s 24th annual Shalom Y’all Jewish Food Festival™ will be held on Sunday, Oct. 28 in Forsyth Park. Delicious Jewish foods from around the world will be offered, including centuries old favorites such as corned beef, pastrami and tongue sandwiches, latkes, hot dogs, brisket, and stuffed cabbage.
