Coat and blanket drive
Alfred Ely Beach High School is hosting a coat and blanket drive to help support students and families in need. Now through Nov. 17, new and clean, gently used coats and blankets will be accepted. A.E. Beach High School will host two “drop off” locations on-site.
Monday-Friday, between the hours of 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., donors can drop off coats and blankets with Kristen Swanson in the Guidance Office or with Monica Daughtry in the Media Center. On Saturday, Nov. 17, A.E. Beach High School will also host a “drop off location” at Cann Park during the Beach Fall Community Event scheduled from 1-4 p.m. For more information, contact Kristen Swanson 912-395-5330 extension: 706212 or Email Kristen.Swanson@sccpss.com.

Annual Vernon Martin Blood Drive
Nov.5-10. 25 Tibet Ave. In honor of our military men and women and Veteran’s Day, the family and staff of Sgt. Vernon W. Martin requests your blood donation support at the American Red Cross Savannah Donor Center. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday, 12-7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Call 1-800-RED-CROSS or visit www.redcrossblood.org to schedule an appointment.

Savannah-Chatham Stars
7 p.m. Nov. 5. Historic Savannah Theatre. An Evening with the Savannah-Chatham Stars is an awe inspiring event that brings together teachers, instructional support personnel, and staff from across the school district to showcase their vocal talents. Enjoy a talent show in which vocalists from across the school district perform to raise money for a great cause. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased by calling 912-233-7764. All proceeds benefit the Teacher of the Year and Instructional Support Person of the Year recognition programs.

Classes at the Coastal GA Center
6:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays through Nov. 12. The Coastal Georgia Center will hold a class on business and professional writing on Mondays through Nov. 12. Operation Sweaters for Veterans
Nov. 1-Nov. 12. Bonaventure Funeral Home, 2520 Bonaventure Road. On Nov. 12 Americans throughout the world will commemorate Veterans Day, a day set aside to thank our nation’s veterans for service given and sacrifices made to protect the freedoms of our great nation. Bonaventure Funeral Home in conjunction with over 1000 Veterans & Family Memorial Care Providers nationwide is sponsoring their annual VFMC Operation Sweaters for Veterans initiative.
Beginning Nov. 1 thru Veterans Day, Nov. 12 Bonaventure Funeral Home is collecting new or gently used sweaters and gloves to be delivered to local VA hospitals, VA homes and veterans service organizations.

Dickens Village Craft Festival
Applications for the juried craft festival can be picked up at Rincon City Hall or at First Baptist Church of Rincon. Booth fee is $25 and all proceeds go to missions. If you have questions call 912-826-5526 or 912-663-3716. Application deadline for craft booths is Nov. 5.

Coastal Georgia Center to hold art classes
6:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays, Nov. 5- Dec. 3. Coastal Georgia Center, 305 Fahm St. Jewelry Making with Precious Metal Clay will provide a chance for participants to explore the potential of Hadar’s ™ copper and bronze clays through the art of jewelry making. Focusing on texturing, building and burnout techniques, participants will explore the properties of metal clay and how it is suited to making creative elements, charms, clasps and beads that can be assembled into original pieces of jewelry. This is a great introductory workshop and well suited for beaders who want to personalize their work. The cost is $200 per person and includes materials.
