FORT STEWART, Ga. (AP) — Soldiers from Fort Stewart are planning a busy Veterans Day weekend.

Troops from the Army post's 3rd Infantry Division were scheduled to take part in a dozen events in communities across southeast Georgia. One of the largest is the annual Veterans Day parade through Savannah's downtown historic district, which is happening Saturday.

More events are planned for Sunday, the traditional Nov. 11 date for Veterans Day, and on Monday, which will be observed as a federal holiday.

Fort Stewart soldiers will take part in parades, observances by veterans groups and high school ceremonies in Hinesville, Claxton, Richmond Hill and other nearby communities.

The 3rd Infantry Division served four combat tours in Iraq. This year some units have deployed for the first time to Afghanistan.
