Plastic Surgeon hosts seminar

6:30 p.m. Nov. 13. Georgia State University E-Zone 58E Main St., Statesboro. Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Meghan McGovern has been inspired to organize seminars which will share the reality behind surgical and non-invasive procedures. A panel of patients will be available for questions and demonstrations will also take place. While enjoying delicious refreshments and meeting the experts and other patients, guests will be invited to make a donation to the charity ‘Faith in Practice’. Every donation to the charity will receive tickets to be entered into the prize draw, which has prizes worth thousands of dollars. “Lunch & Learn”

Prostate Cancer Support Group: Man to Man
6-8 p.m. Nov. 14. Conference Room of the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center. This group is for men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and their spouses. The group provides a variety of educational and support programs. American Cancer Society is seeking cancer fighters
8-9 a.m. Nov. 14. American Cancer Society office, 6600 Abercorn St. What if you could prevent even one family member from hearing the words, “You have cancer?” The American Cancer Society is seeking cancer fighters in the Savannah/Chatham and surrounding areas who are interested in helping to spread the word about the importance of participating in Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3), a historic nationwide study to help researchers better understand the genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors that cause or prevent cancer.
Two Champion Information Sessions will take place at the American Cancer Society office at 6600 Abercorn St. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 8-9 a.m. or Thursday Nov. 15, 6-7 p.m. Refreshments will be served at each event, and will be feature a brief presentation. JEA to feature Brad Hook
Nov. 1 through Nov. 30. Jewish Educational alliance, 5111 Abercorn St. A self-taught watercolor artist, Brad Hook, has been painting for over 35 years. Often referred to as “The painter of trees,” his love of nature and botanicals shows in his life-like recreations of the sights of the area. Just looking at his paintings of many types of trees makes you want to reach out and feel the bark. His flowers, you can almost smell the sweet aroma. His birds are so lifelike that you can almost see the tiny feathers flowing in the wind.
