The Stewart Huston Charitable Trust has announced grants totaling $128,000 this fall for Savannah-area charities.
Grants are awarded to Protestant Christian religious non profit organizations twice annually.
Recipients this fall include:
- $34,000 to Calvary Day School for replacement of 115 windows
- $20,000 to the YMCA of Coastal Georgia for their financial assistance fund
- $20,000 to Montgomery Presbyterian Church for The Jenkins Boys Club for building and ground renovations
- $19,000 to Christ Church Episcopal for a part-time youth minister
- $10,000 to United Ministries for Emmaus House and its food for the homeless program
- $10,000 to The Living Vine for general operating funds
- $8,000 to Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church for renovations to its sanctuary
- $7,000 to Isle of Hope Methodist Church for its We Care Meals program
The private foundation is a perpetual charitable trust created under the will of Stewart Huston, who, along with his wife, Harriet, is buried in Bonaventure Cemetery.
