JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. (AP) — Jekyll Island's governing board is considering a deal to help its planned convention hotel get back on track after financing problems caused groundbreaking to be delayed.

The Jekyll Island Authority board was scheduled to meet Monday morning. The agenda included a vote on new lease terms for the 200-room beachfront Westin, which is supposed to be the main hotel for groups using the island state park's new convention center.

Details of the deal weren't disclosed last week. Jekyll Island spokesman Eric Garvey said terms were still being worked out Friday afternoon.

Construction on the hotel was supposed to start in September, but developers were unable to secure a $25 million loan. Jekyll Island says the delays have already cost it $3.8 million in lost convention business for 2014.
