Landmark Christian defeated host Calvary Day 10-7 in a GHSA Class A Private School first round playoff game Friday.
Landmark Christian's Jeremiah Kirkland dashed up the middle for a 7-yard touchdown with 28.5 seconds left in the half to make it 10-0.
The Eagles had a 22-yard score by Kirkland called back midway through the first quarter, and settled for a 27-yard field goal from Stockton McGuire.
Early in the second quarter, the Eagles were on a nice drive featuring McGuire connecting with Kirkland on consecutive passes totaling 37 yards. But Kirkland tried to go over the top from the 1-yard line and was hit hard in midair. He coughed up the ball and it was recovered by Calvary’s Reagan Jones.
The Cavaliers scored a touchdown with four seconds to play. Derek Kirkland scored on a 2-yard run.
