A Savannah man Monday pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and related charges in return for five years in prison in the 2010 death of a motorcyclist.
Anthony R. Smith, 59, admitted he was driving under the influence when he struck Cody Burman on Oct. 27, 2010, killing the motorcyclist.
Chatham County Chief Superior Court Judge Michael Karpf accepted the plea offer and sentenced Smith to 15 years in prison with five to serve and the remainder on probation.
The defendant was allowed until Dec. 10 to report to the Chatham County jail and begin his sentence.
Burman, 27, was dead at the scene died after being struck while riding a Suzuki on Telfair Road at Gwinnett Street.
