A Richmond Hill woman will be arraigned Jan. 14 on vehicular homicide charges in the June traffic death of Bryan County Sheriff’s Deputy Sgt. Robert Warren “Bobby” Crapse.

Attorneys for Patricia Ann Collins, 23, asked for a continuance Monday, informing the judge that both medical and practical reasons were in play.

Chatham County Superior Court Judge Timothy R. Walmsley granted the continuance, but instructed attorneys to discuss a scheduling order for the case. Failing that, Walmsley said he would craft a standard scheduling order for the matter.

Crapse, 32, was killed in a two-vehicle crash June 15 after Collins’ Toyota Corolla struck him head-on on Interstate 95, the Georgia State Patrol reported.

Collins car was traveling the wrong way at mile marker 96 in Chatham County when she collided with Crapse’ police cruiser.

The Chatham County grand jury indicted Collins on vehicular homicide, driving under the influence by driving “within three hours of the time when (Collins’)” alcohol consumption was .08 or more.
