Chatham sheriff seeks another missing sex offender

The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing sex offender.

Bobby Clinton Butler III, 62, is a Level II sex offender and was convicted of rape in 1988 in Georgia. Butler last registered with the sheriff's office on Aug. 28, indicating he lived at the Old Savannah City Mission at 2414 Bull St.  

He is known to frequent the area of Millen and Richards streets as well as the area of Tuten and Bay streets. Butler has been convicted several times for failure to register as a sex offender and just got out of prison in August, said Michelle Gavin, sheriff's office spokeswoman.

The sheriff's office is also still looking for three other absconded sex offenders.

Christopher Aaron Walter, 30, was convicted in 2002 in Georgia for enticing a child for indecent purposes and has been labeled a sexual predator by the state.  Walter disabled his electronic ankle monitor on Nov. 13 and has been missing ever since. He is homeless and last indicated he was living under the Talmadge Bridge near the Oglethorpe Bus Station.  

Kyle Lamont Gadson, 41, was convicted of rape in 1992. Gadson was last seen at the sheriff’s office on July 23 when he came to the SORT Unit for his annual sex offender registration. 

General Smalls, 53, is a Level I sex offender and was convicted of false imprisonment in 1998 in Georgia. Smalls last registered with the sheriff's office on Oct. 23, indicating he lived at the Inner City Night Shelter at 124 Arnold St.
