A homeless Savannah man on Wednesday was indicted on an involuntary manslaughter charges in the death of Willie Miller Jr.
Michael Myers, 34, caused Miller’s death “without any intention to do so” while in commission of a simple battery, the Chatham County grand jury determined.
In a second involuntary manslaughter count, the grand jury charged Myers caused Miller’s death during commission of a simple assault.
Police said Miller was drunk and had been following Myers and another homeless man shortly before an altercation on River Walk.
Miller, 42, and Myers fell into the Savannah River during the scuffle near the Hyatt Regency Savannah, police said. Myers came out of the river, Miller did not.
