A Savannah man on Wednesday was indicted on malice murder and related charges in the September slaying of 19-year-old Tiyates Lamont Franklin.
Lanard Akeem Mikell, 20, caused Franklin’s death on Sept. 2, the Chatham County grand jury determined.
Grand jurors also indicted Mikell on a felony-murder count, charging the slaying occurred during the commission of an aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a handgun and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Police said the two were involved in a confrontation when the shooting occurred. Franklin died later in the day at Memorial University Medical Center.
