The Effingham County Sheriff’s office and Springfield Police are looking for a suspect in a kidnapping and aggravated assault that occurred about 3 p.m. today.
Brandon Peters, 35, of Springfield was last seen about 3 p.m. in a 1999 Dodge van, green or blue in color, and displaying Georgia tag BUU3926.
“Peters entered a residence in the 300 block of Deer Road in Springfield, tied a female up and forced her to a nearby ATM. Once at the bank, the female struggled to get out of the vehicle where she was eventually run over by the van Peters was driving," said Sheriff’s spokesman David Ehsanipoor.
The victim is being treated at an area hospital.
The injuries are not life threatening, Ehsanipoor said.
Ehsanipoor said the investigators believe the suspect knew the victim and that she was not a random target.
Peters has an extensive criminal history, including armed robbery, and may be armed and dangerous, Ehsanipoor said. Anyone with information of his location is asked to call the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office at 912-754-3449 or the Springfield Police Department.
