A person was transported to a local hospital Thursday evening after he was found near Barnard Street between River and Bay streets with a gunshot wound.
Savannah-Chatham police believe the man was shot somewhere between Yamacraw Village and the location he was found, said Julian Miller, police spokesman.
Miller said the man's injuries did not appear to be life threatening. The victim, Miller added, was not cooperating with investigators.
Savannah-Chatham police closed down the western portion of River Street for some time Thursday evening as they investigated.
Miller said no other information was immediately available.
