DUNWOODY, Ga. (AP) — A Georgia pet rescue group says somebody stole 40 of its dog crates, a setback that makes it harder for the group to show animals to potential adoptive families.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/VoSzh3 ) Park Pet Haven Rescue in Dunwoody used the crates to show dogs at a local PetSmart store in hopes of adopting them. Dorease Shairrick, the rescue group's volunteer director, says the crates cost about $5,000 apiece and were stolen sometime in the last week.

She says the crates were kept behind a 9-foot chain-link fence behind the PetSmart store. The group is trying to borrow crates to put on a limited adoption show.

Meanwhile, Shairrick says the rescue group is accepting donations to help replace its stolen dog crates.
