Every geek secretly desires to live the mysterious, debonair and dangerous existence of a spy.
This November’s Geekend interactive conference will feature a geek living that dream —
kind of.
Neal Holman, art director and producer for the FX television network series “Archer,” will be a keynote speaker at the third annual conference to be held Nov. 8 through 10. Archer is an animated series based on an international intelligence service led by master spy Sterling Archer.
Holman’s presentation will focus on the overall creative process “from concept to pilot to series,” according to Geekend Executive Direct Sloane Kelley.
“It should be interesting for attendees to dig into what another shop’s creative process is like,” Kelley said.
Geekend also announced several of its session speakers.
Matia Corea, the founder of the website Behance, a social media channel for the creative community, will speak as will Mimi Chan, a pioneer in the use of virtual reality in advertising, and Coca-Cola digital marketing guru Brian Rudolph.
More programming will be announced in the next month, Kelley said. She expects the core of the schedule to be set by early September and has extended the “early bird” ticket discount deadline until Aug. 31. The $95 cost includes special edition Geekend “shirts and swag, while supplies last,” Kelley said.
“We started a little later this year, but it’s been a very busy July and August,” said Kelley, who took over as the conference’s executive director earlier this year. “Things are coming together.”
