HAMPTON, Ga. (AP) — Georgia Department of Corrections officials say an inmate has escaped from a work detail program, prompting lockdowns at two nearby schools.
Authorities say 50-year-old Steven Bone fled his work detail program at 12:12 p.m. Tuesday. Officials say he was working at Lovejoy Regional Park in Hampton and a statewide lookout is in effect.
Lovejoy Middle School and Lovejoy High School in Hampton are locked down while authorities search for Bone.
According to department of corrections records, Bone was arrested in December of 2002 for cruelty to an elderly person. Bone was also arrested in October 2001 for making terroristic threats.
