A 46-year-old Savannah cab driver died Tuesday after a morning crash in which he and another man were struck by a pickup truck.
Scott Barrett, of West 38th Street, died in surgery at Memorial University Medical Center where he and a passenger were transported after the 8 a.m. wreck, said Julian Miller, Savannah-Chatham police spokesman.
Both men were standing behind the cab in the 2100 block of Shell Road, loading an air compressor into the trunk when the westbound truck struck them and pinned them between the vehicles, Miller said.
The driver of the pickup was not injured and has not been charged in the incident.
Miller said the Major Accident Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the wreck.
