A suspected intruder was killed during a reported home invasion overnight in Savannah.
Savannah-Chatham police spokeswoman Gena Sullivan said officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Cloverdale Drive just before midnight.
Responding officers were told a dead man was inside the residence, Sullivan said. Police were told the man broke into the home, was confronted by one of the occupants and was shot during the confrontation.
Violent crimes detectives and forensics units responded to the scene, and detectives are still investigating, Sullivan said.
Police on Sunday night identified the deceased man as 36-year-old Akin Oswa Stevens of Savannah. Police had not released the identity of the the person who shot Stevens as of late Sunday.
