Two men are in custody following large seizures of cocaine during operations conducted by the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team.

Earlier this month, CNT began an investigation of Robert Brown, 39, of Savannah, after CNT Agents working in an undercover capacity received information Brown was selling cocaine.

On Jan. 25, Brown was arrested while allegedlly selling undercover agents a large sum of crack cocaine in the parking-lot of an eastside Savannah business. CNT reportedly seized both powder and crack cocaine with a street value of up to $1,500, items commonly utilized in the sale of narcotics, and $980 in U.S. currency. Brown’s Lincoln LS vehicle was also seized in the operation.

Brown was charged with numerous felonies that include criminal attempt to sell a controlled substance (crack cocaine) and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.  Brown’s arrest marks his third arrest by CNT and his 17th arrest in Chatham County.

In a separate drug investigation beginning earlier this month, CNT agents received information that 34-year-old Larry Hampton, a.k.a. Dread of Rincon, was selling crack cocaine at a residence located in the 1700 block of Whitaker Street in Savannah.

CNT reported that its agents, working in an undercover capacity, began making purchases of cocaine from Hampton. On Jan. 18, CNT agents conducted a search warrant at the Whitaker Street address where agents found Hampton. The search warrant resulted in the seizure of a large amount of crack cocaine with a street value of up to $4,000, two firearms and more than $7,000 in U.S. currency.

Hampton was charged with numerous felonies that include trafficking cocaine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  Hampton’s arrest marks his second arrest by CNT and his 11th arrest in Chatham County.

Both Brown and Hampton remain in the Chatham County jail following their arraignments in the Recorder’s Court of Chatham County.
