Effingham County Sheriff’s Office investigators have few leads in a late Wednesday night double shooting.

Someika Rashee, 29, who was eight months pregnant, and John Henry Martin, 46, were both shot with a shotgun after at least one black male kicked in the front door of the home in the 400 block of Reedsville Road in Clyo. The shooting was reported just after midnight.

Rashee was shot in the stomach and leg. Martin was shot in the chest, Effingham County Sheriff’s Office spokesman David Ehansipoor said.

Martin had surgery at Memorial University Medical Center on Thursday and is now in critical condition in the ICU, Effingham County Sheriff’s Office spokesman David Ehsanipoor said.

Rashee gave birth to the baby at Memorial after doctors induced labor. The baby is expected to survive. The sex of the child was not available late Thursday.

Rashee is in serious but stable condition.

Ehsanipoor said the sheriff’s office have few leads so far.

“Other than one black male, we have a possible suspect vehicle, described as an 80s model Dodge sedan, tan in color,” Ehsanipoor said.

Ehsanipoor said investigators do believe the shooting was an isolated event.

“We don’t believe this was random,” Ehsanipoor said. “We believe these two people were targeted.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 912-754-3449 or CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020.
