‘The Shadow Man’ Book Trailer Competition 2013
Through March 11. Savannah author and physician Dr. Mark Murphy is announcing a web-based book trailer competition for his thriller, “The Shadow Man.” Trailers (1-3 minutes in length) should take advantage of the Savannah setting while incorporating aspects of the city that are present in the story. The iconic cover shot of the Forsyth Park Fountain at night must be incorporated into each video as well as links to the author’s website and Facebook page. First place will win its team $3,000; second place, $1,500; and third place, $1,000. The deadline is March 11.
The Savannah Parrot Head Club Scavenger Hunt & Pub Crawl
The Savannah Parrot Head Club is hosting the seventh annual Scavenger Hunt & Pub Crawl on April 13 to benefit the Prostate Cancer Support Fund at the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center. The fun begins with a pre-registration welcome party at Flip Flop Tiki Bar & Grill from 6-9 p.m. April 12. Event registration begins at 11 a.m. April 13 at Wild Wings Cafe in City Market. The Scavenger Hunt & Pub Crawl will take place from noon-4 p.m. with stops at several downtown establishments. The St. Pius X High School Alumni Association is accepting registration for membership. Dues are $24 a year. All students who attended the school from 1952-71 are invited to register. The One Hundred Presents: Jazz Pianist Bob James Goes Solo!

Morris Center in downtown Savannah. Tickets and sponsorships are tax-deductible and may include a pre-concert reception and an exclusive post-concert reception with Bob James. Health Careers Summer Camp
July 21-27. Armstrong Atlantic State University’s College of Health Professions announces its inaugural College Health Careers Summer Camp scheduled for July 21-27. The camp is for high school juniors and seniors who are interested in a career in health care. The Health Careers Summer Camp is an excellent opportunity for high school students to explore a career path and get a taste of college life. While students are attending camp, they will stay in one of Armstrong’s residence halls and become immersed in the college setting. To apply, students need a minimum GPA of 3.0 and PSAT/SAT score minimums of 530 in critical reading and 430 in math with an overall score of 1000. The required ACT scores are 24 in English and 18 in math, with a composite score of 21. The cost of the camp is $150, and the application deadline is March 15. ‘Licensure, Practice and the Future’

SCAD Museum of Art, 601 Turner Blvd. Michael Armstrong, CEO of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, explores how the approach, value and relevance of licensure cannot remain static in an environment of evolving approaches impacting the built environment. Armstrong’s career includes the practice of law and management positions in government and the private sector, including senior positions at the International Code Council and FEMA. He holds a B.A. in English and B.S. in journalism from the University of Colorado and a J.D. from Pepperdine University.
Stetson University Choir concert
7:30 p.m. March 7. Lutheran Church of the Ascension, 120 Bull St. The Stetson University Choir will hold a concert March 7 at the Lutheran Church of the Ascension on Wright Square. This event is free and open to the public.
In the Pines
Feb. 28-April 1. The Gallery Espresso. The Gallery Espresso presents “In the Pines” A group show featuring recent work by three up and coming Savannah talents: Gordon Rabut, Mariel Zayas-Bazan, and Lucas Rager. The exhibit consists of drawings, paintings, and etchings with a wide range of subject matter. A reception will be held for the artists on Good Friday, March 29 from 6-9 p.m.
Contemporary Prints from Hungary
March. Savannah Center for Fine Art, 41 Drayton St. Savannah Center for Fine Art is pleased to announce an exhibition of fine prints published by eleven of Hungary’s leading graphic artists.
