A Hinesville mother and woman are displaced following a morning fire that destroyed their home.
Around 5 a.m. on Saturday morning, a deputy sherriff saw fire and smoke coming from the home while driving past 339 Mobley Road and notified his dispatch center who immediately called for a fire department response.
Fire departments from three stations sent six trucks to fight the blaze, but by the time the fire was contained, the doublewide mobile home were totally destroyed.
The occupants were not home at the time of the fire. The 39-year-old mother was returning home from driving her daugther to a Savannah hospital when a family member alerted her of the fire.
The American Red Cross was notified around 5:55 a.m. and had a Disaster Action team on the scene within forty five minutes. Because the home had so much destruction, the two member team from the Hinesville Red Cross office determined the family needed food, clothing and personal hygiene items and such items were provided immediately . The mother of the home owner has stepped forward and offered to take the family to her home where they will stay until other living arrangements are made. There were some prescribed medications lost in the fire and the Red Cross on call nurse was contacted to get those medications replaced immediately.
