Abercorn lanes to close for work:
The Georgia Department of Transportation will close three lanes of Abercorn Street on Savannah’s southside Sunday as crews continue to work in the area.
Two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane of Abercorn will be closed between Wilshire Boulevard and Deerfield Road from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m., weather permitting, said Jill Nagel, GDOT spokeswoman.
Nagel urges motorists in the area to slow down while driving in the work zone.
Shoulder closure for triathlon:
The shoulder of U.S. 80 between Fort Pulaski and 14th Street on Tybee Island will close for three hours Sunday.
The Georgia Department of Transportation will close the shoulder from 7-10 a.m. for the Tybee Island Spring Triathlon, said GDOT spokeswoman Jill Nagel.
Savannah-Chatham police will handle traffic control and directional information to ensure the safety of all people in the area, Nagel said.
Diamond Causeway lane closure this week:
The Georgia Department of Transportation announced contractors will close a single lane of the Diamond Causeway Monday and Tuesday.
The eastbound/westbound lane will be closed near mile marker 5 and continuing passed mile marker 6 west of Roebling Bridge over Skidaway Narrows Roebling Bridge from 9 a.m. Roebling Bridge to 4 p.m. Roebling Bridge on Monday and Tuesday, weather permitting, said Jill Nagel, Roebling Bridge GDOT spokeswoman.
Drivers in the area are advised to slow down, Nagel said.
