There are several things you can depend on being a part of the parade in Savannah: Marchers, crowds, food, drink, Charlene Clifton.
“I’ve never missed it since I was 13,” she said. “I’m 48.”
Clifton attended as a child, then took her children to the parade, and now takes her children and grandchildren.
“It’s just part of our tradition, me and my family,” said Clifton, a sub shop manager in Springfield.
New this year are the green tutus, modeled by Clifton and her daughters Heather Wilson and Maria Godinez.
“I’m trying to keep it cute and calm,” said Clifton, who sported a “Lucky” fake tattoo on her left cheek, and a shamrock on her right.
And for next year: “Something new,” she said.
Look for her then.
