Two overnight wrecks in Savannah left one man dead and two others seriously injured.
Tory Alexander Williams, 18, of New York, a local college student, died in a 4 a.m. Saturday crash when he lost control of his motorcycle in the 10,000 block of Abercorn Street near his apartment, said Julian Miller, Savannah-Chatham police spokesman.
Williams was operating a black 2003 Yamaha eastbound on Abercorn at a high rate of speed and lost control while entering a curve, Miller said. He crashed into a tree in the median and died instantly.
Police are also investigating a three-vehicle crash at 9:43 p.m. Friday in which all three drivers were injured.
Anthony Edenfield, 32, of Buckhalter Road, was rushed to surgery at Memorial University Medical Center immediately after being transported from the crash at East Montgomery Crossroad and Gohler Avenue, Miller said. He had been partially ejected from his vehicle.
Edenfield was driving a red Ford Mustang that appears to have been turning around in the left, west bound lane of Montgomery Crossroad when it collided with a 2012 Toyota Tundra pickup driven by Donald Williams, 35, of Northwood Road, Miller said.
The pickup then collided with a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by Patricia Waller, 53, of a New York Avenue address, Miller said.
Both pickup drivers were transported to Memorial for treatment as well. Williams’ and Edenfield’s injuries were considered serious, Mille said.
Officers with the police department’s Major Accident Investigation Team continue to investigate both wrecks.
