Derby Devils 2013 season
5 p.m. April 20. Savannah Civic Center. The Savannah Derby Devils women’s roller derby team is counting down to its seventh competitive season, starting April 20 with a debut bout at the Savannah Civic Center. Season tickets are available until April 20 at the Savannah Civic Center Box Office and www.savannahcivic.com. Adult season tickets are $62, including fees. Adult tickets for single events are $16. Child tickets for ages 3-12 are $2. Children younger than 3 get in free. For more information, go to www.savannahderby.com.

Containers for Cancer
Through May 12. John Davis Florist, 2430 Abercorn St. The Containers for Cancer program will donate $1 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure for every empty container or vase dropped off at John Davis Florist located at 2430 Abercorn St.  now through Mother’s Day on May 12. In addition, for every Mother’s Day flower order received, a $5 donation will be made on behalf of the Containers for Cancer program. Giving in Love Inc. car wash
8 a.m.-noon. April 20. Arby’s, 308 Mall Blvd. Come out and support Giving in Love Inc.’s car wash April 20 at Arby’s on Mall Boulevard. Giving in Love Inc, gives, collects and redistributes baby and toddler items to low-income mothers in Savannah. Please support our mission in these efforts.

Ford fundraiser for athletics
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 20. St. Andrew’s Church. Ford test drive day at St. Andrew’s is scheduled for April 20. The event is to raise funds for the Lions Pride Booster Club. Ford will donate $20 for every test drive. You must be 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license. Test drives are limited to one per school family. Grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins are not included in the one per family limitation. J.C. Lewis is bringing a variety of cars: Explorer, F-150, Mustang, Fusion and Escort. Earth Day Beach Sweep
10 a.m. April 20. The Tybee Beautification Association is sponsoring a Beach Sweep in honor of Earth Day at 10 a.m. April 20. Volunteers should meet at the Tybee pavilion for directions and supplies. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 20. Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens Greenhouse. Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens invites you to our annual plant sale April 20. Purchase bamboo, annuals, perennials and some herbs for your garden. All proceeds benefit CGBG. Cash or checks only.

National Astronomy Day
2 p.m. April 20. Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens. On April 20, join us at our Lakeside Pavilion for National Astronomy Day, with the national award-winning Oglethorpe Astronomical Association. We will have a scale model of the solar system, portable planetarium, safe solar observing, astronomy learning activities, face painting and activities for children from 2-5 p.m., the 1951 classic movie “The Day the Earth Stood Still” at 7 p.m. and stargazing from 8-10 p.m. Free and open to the public. Great day for scout, school and church groups and families.

Spaghetti Supper to benefit Kamp PHUN
6-9 p.m. April 20. St. Michael and All Angels Church, 3101 Waters Ave. Kamp PHUN will host a fundraiser April 20 at St. Michael and All Angels Church. All proceeds will benefit Kamp Phun, a free camp for children ages 9-11 who have a parent who is incarcerated. There will also be a silent auction. ‘Hands Of The Spirit’
2:30 & 7:30 p.m. April 20; 3 p.m. April 21. Muse Arts Warehouse, 703 Louisville Road. “Hands of the Spirit” is a true story based on the life of the late African-American visionary artist J.B. Murray, an illiterate farm worker who became an artist of international acclaim. This musical is based on a book, “In The Hands of the Holy Spirit: The Visionary Work of J.B. Murray,” written by Mary Padgelek, who was named Georgia Author of the Year in the biography category in 2000. General admission $20; limited seating available. Watercolor painting class
12:30-3:30 p.m. April 20 and 28. Tybee Arts Association building, 7 Cedarwood Drive, Tybee Island. “Vision in Watercolors,” a watercolor painting class instructed by Brad D. Hook, will be from 12:30-3:30 p.m. April 20 and 28. The classes will be conducted at the Tybee Arts Association building. Hook’s unique and fresh style of watercolors are the main focus of the class, as well as developing your own style of painting. Beginning painters are welcome and encouraged. Jazz at the Beach

North Beach Bar & Grill will host the third annual Jazz at the Beach, a fundraiser to benefit the Savannah Philharmonic, on April 20. Patrons will enjoy a relaxing afternoon of delicious food and friendship while listening to the upbeat tunes of Velvet Caravan and bidding on unique silent auction items. ‘Seven Keys to Baldpate’

The Savannah Arts Academy’s Theatre Department, under the direction of Andrea Verdis, department chair, presents its spring production, “Seven Keys to Baldpate” at 7 p.m. April 20 and 2:30 p.m. April 21. Starfish Gala
7 p.m. April 20. The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa, Grand Ballroom, 1 Resort Drive. This black-tie optional gala event will benefit Union Mission, a nonprofit organization offering a range of services, including hands-on culinary training for local homeless and at-risk individuals through the Starfish Café. Bariatric Surgery Support Group Meeting
10 a.m. April 20. Mercer Auditorium in the Hoskins Center, Memorial University Medical Center. This support group is open to anybody who has had or is considering having bariatric surgery.
