Savannah-Chatham police homicide detectives investigating the death of a Savannah man found in his wrecked car Thursday have determined that he died of a gunshot wound.
Roderick Richardson, 38, of the 500 block of Early Street was found with wounds inconsistent with the severity of the single-car wreck on Mills B. Lane Boulevard at Hopkins Street, said spokesman Julian Miller.
Police did not release further details of their investigation, which remains open.
Police reported that the Honda Richardson was driving had struck a chain link fence near Hodge Elementary School about midnight.
Richardson was taken to Memorial University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
