David Schwarz, the Isle off Hope native who has worked as a staffer to outgoing U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston and as a lobbyist, became the third candidate Wednesday to declare his intentions for Kingston's 1st Congressional District seat.
Schwarz, currently the 37-year-old managing partner for Pier Strategies lobbying and public-private economic development firm, said he represents the new generation of conservative Republicans that will be able to restore the trust between Americans and their federal government.
"Trust is gone in Washington," Schwarz said while standing at the end of the dock at the Isle of Hope Marina. "Government as a whole is broken. More taxes is not the answer. More local control and less regulation is the answer."
Schwarz joins state Sen. Buddy Carter (R-Pooler) and Alma native Darwin Carter as the three candidates formally seeking the seat currently held by Kingston as the 11-term congressman runs for the U.S. Sen. seat being vacated by Saxby Chambliss.
