A joint operation between local and federal investigators resulted in 13 arrests related to prostitution and ordinance violations over the weekend, according to the Savannah-Chatham police department.
Metro police spokeswoman Eunicia Baker said the sting took place Friday and Saturday, and resulted in the arrests of five women who were charged with prostitution for attempting to perform sex acts in exchange for cash at hotels along Ga. 204 near Interstate 95 and in midtown.
Additionally, two male and six female suspects were arrested and charged with escorting without a license at hotels throughout Chatham County, Baker said.
The operation targeted hotels listed in ads posted to a website, she said.
Baker said the police department, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security will continue collaborating on operations with the objective of locating minors and victims of human trafficking.
