A Garden City man wanted on robbery-related charges in North Carolina was captured Wednesday by the U.S. Marshals Service’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force.
James Antonio King, 26, was tracked by Marshals to a unit in the Ponderosa Forest Apartment complex off LaRoche Avenue in Savannah, said Tommy Long, Marshals spokesman.
Officers found King hiding in a load of sheets inside a dryer in the apartment, Long said.
“At 5’9” and 150 pounds, that was no small feat,” Long said. “Although his hiding place was somewhat ingenious, when looking for people the task force always looks wherever a person might hide.”
King was arrested without incident and taken to the Chatham County jail to await extradition to New Bern, North Carolina where he faces charges of robbery with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a deadly weapon.
