A single-car crash left a Savannah woman in critical condition and the man driving in stable condition Sunday night.
Both Alicia Vanscooter, 21, and Joshua Allen Johnson, 26, were extricated from the wreckage by Savannah firefighters after the 11:36 p.m. crash in the first block of East 63rd Street, said Julian Miller, Savannah-Chatham police spokesman.
Metro's Major Accident Investigation Team investigators said Johnson was driving a 1997 Saturn sedan west at a high rate of speed, Miller said. The car struck a curb on the south side of the street, spun to the north side into the yard of a house, struck a tree and overturned.
Both were transported to Memorial University Medical Center.
MAIT continues to investigate.
