Chatham County Sheriff's deputies are searching for a convicted sex offender missing from his registered address.
General Smalls, 53, is a Level I sex offender and was convicted of false imprisonment in 1998 in Georgia, said Michelle Gavin, sheriff's office spokeswoman. Smalls last registered with the CCSO on Oct. 23, indicating he lived at the Inner City Night Shelter at 124 Arnold Street. State parole officers notified the CCSO’s Sex Offender Registration and Tracking, or SORT, unit on Thursday that Smalls was not living at that address. A warrant was issued for his arrest. The SORT unit is also working with the U.S. Marshal Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force to search for Smalls.
Meanwhile, the office is also continuing to search for two other missing sex offenders, including one labeled a sexual predator.
Christopher Aaron Walter, 30, was convicted in 2002 in Georgia for enticing a child for indecent purposes and is considered a predator. Walter disabled his electronic ankle monitor on Nov. 13 and has been missing ever since, Gavin said. He is homeless and last indicated he was living under the Talmadge Bridge near the Oglethorpe Bus Station.
Kyle Lamont Gadson, 41, was convicted of rape in 1992. Gadson was last seen at the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office on July 23 when he came to the SORT Unit for his annual sex offender registration, Gavin said.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Smalls, Walter or Gadson is asked to contact the CCSO’s SORT unit at 912-656-5715 or contact CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020 or call 911.
