Christmas on the River and Lighted Parade
9 a.m.-8 p.m. Dec. 1. River Street. Enjoy first Saturday festivities, including regional arts and crafts and live holiday entertainment highlights during this multicultural holiday celebration. The official arrival of Ol’ St. Nick and the magic of the Lighted Parade begins at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 1 and makes its way down River, Bay, Abercorn and Broughton streets. Ardsley Park Holiday Tour of Homes
1-4 p.m. Dec. 1. Experience stylish living in lavishly designed and beautifully decorated homes during the self-guided Seventh Annual Ardsley Park Holiday Tour of Homes on Dec. 1. Preceding the tour, renowned interior designer Thomas Eugene White will present a lecture on Savannah’s historic interiors – focusing exclusively on Ardsley Park interiors of note. A special lunch created and prepared by a chef will accompany the lecture from noon-1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Savannah. The cost is $25 for the tour, $25 for the lecture or $45 for both events. Toys for Tots tournament
Dec. 1. Paulson Sports Complex, 7171 Skidaway Road. A co-ed softball tournament benefiting Toys for Tots will be Dec. 1. The cost is $150 team entry fee, with each player bringing a toy. Three-game guarantee. For more information, call 912-441-1532.

Christmas Tree Lighting
6 p.m. Dec. 1. 205 East U.S. 80, Bloomingdale. The City of Bloomingdale and the Bloomingdale Historical Society Inc. cordially invite you to the Second Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at 6 p.m. Dec. 1.

Armstrong Adult Student Information Session
10 a.m. Dec. 1. The Armstrong Center, 13040 Abercorn St. The Adult Student Information Session will help adult students learn more about applying to Armstrong and about the university’s programs tailored specifically for working adults. Whether returning to college, entering college for the first time or considering graduate degrees to advance a career, the session will provide an opportunity to ask questions and speak with admission reps and faculty in person. Open House and Tea
1-4 p.m. Dec. 1. UNITY of Savannah, 2320 Sunset Blvd. Courtyard Books is hosting an open house and tea Dec. 1 at UNITY of Savannah. Tea will be in the fellowship hall and there is a suggested donation of $3. The event will also feature an art exhibit and a contest to win a holiday wreath. This event is open to the public. Christmas Tree Lighting and Holiday Festival
6 p.m. Dec. 1. Volunteer Park and Sharon Park, Garden City. Mayor Tennyson Holder lights the official city tree, a 30-foot. cedar, at Volunteer Park. A Holiday Festival will follow at Sharon Park, including the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Claus by fire truck, Christmas caroling, children’s rides and inflatables, arts and crafts, face painting and performances by the Garden City Senior Citizens Choir and local church groups. Refreshments will be provided by Garden City’s Police Department. All events are free and open to the public.

‘Salome’ Parlor Play
8 p.m. Dec. 1, 7, 8; 3 p.m. Dec. 1, 8, 9. Muse Arts Warehouse, 703D Louisville Road. The Biblical story of the seductive Salome is one of the most enduring in history; the Collective Face Theatre Ensemble, Savannah’s premiere theater company, presents an intimate adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s classic drama “Salome” at Muse Arts Warehouse. Mistletoe and a Trolley
Old Savannah Tours will present a holiday-themed trolley tour starting in November. Offered Thursday-Sunday evenings, the tour will run through Dec. 23 and start at 6 p.m. Guests are invited to enjoy a leisurely two hours punctuated by carol singing as they are whisked to the enchanting sights of holiday season in Savannah: The Unitarian Church, the Forsyth Park Christmas Tree and The Westin’s Gingerbread Village. Reservations are recommended. Cost for adults is $25 and $8 for children between the ages of 6 and 11. ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens
8 p.m. Dec.1. All Walks of Life and The City of Savannah Department of Cultural Affairs present “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens and directed by Jonathan Johnson. The show will be performed at 8 p.m. Dec. 1, 7, 8, with matinee shows at 3 p.m. Dec. 2 and 9. Tickets are $12 for adults and children. Build Gingerbread Houses with Habitat
2 p.m. Dec. 1. J.C. Penney’s Court, Oglethorpe Mall. Habitat for Humanity Savannah, along with partners Oglethorpe Mall and Savannah Rum Runners Bakery and Café, invite families to craft their own gingerbread dream house during a workshop Dec. 1 at Oglethorpe Mall. A per-participant donation of $20 is required. All workshop proceeds will help build homes for families in need. Holiday Wreath Embellishment Workshop
10 a.m.-noon Dec. 1. Bamboo Farm and Coastal Gardens, 2 Canebrake Road. Registrants will learn the basic steps to wreath-making, with a concentration on using common garden plant cuttings to create a more professional, dynamic wreath to hang on the front door. Workshop fee includes the cost of a 24-inch fir wreath as well as various dried and fresh-cut greenery to make a personal masterpiece. Please bring gloves and small wire cutters. December Nights and Holiday Lights
Dusk-9 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sundays, Dec. 1-23. Bamboo Farm and Coastal Gardens, 2 Canebrake Road. Join us for 11 nights as we illuminate the gardens with holiday lights and music. All proceeds will go to fund the Children’s Garden at the Bamboo Farm. $5 per person.
