One man is back in custody in Bryan County on meth charges after an undercover operation by local drug agents.
George Rountree, 48, was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and for children being present during the manufacture of methamphetamine.
Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team agents working undercover received information about a possible methamphetamine lab on Stubb’s Lane in Ellabell, said Gene Harley, CNT spokesman.
Agents and Bryan County Sheriff’s Office deputies searched the residence and seized a methamphetamine lab.
The lab was in an open area inside the residence that was shared with a juvenile, Harley said.
Agents arrested Rountree for the second time, Harley said. In October 2011, CNT and the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search at the same residence, seizing a methamphetamine lab and firearms, Harley said. During that incident, Rountree was arrested for manufacturing methamphetamine, trafficking methamphetamine and weapons charges, Harley said.
Rountree was out on bond for that case at the time of his most recent arrest, according to CNT.
Rountree is being held in the Bryan County jail.
