A judge on Thursday revoked bond for a teen mother charged with murder in the death of her newborn son.

Anitra Hicks, 18, had been free since April 2012 on a $10,000 bond with conditions that she not contact witnesses and remain at home under house arrest.

Chatham County Superior Court Chief Judge Michael Karpf ordered the bond revoked after Assistant District Attorney Emily Puhala argued Hicks had not met the conditions.

Hicks, a senior at Johnson High School at the time, was indicted April 4, 2012, on murder and related charges in the death of Baby Boy Hicks on or about Dec. 4, 2011,- the same day he was born.

A garbage truck driver called Savannah-Chatham police on Dec. 6, 2011, to the area of Central Avenue near Skidaway Road after he found a newborn dead in the back of his truck.

Hicks’ mother, Patricia Ann Hicks, testified at a bond hearing in April 2012 that defendant lived at home and did not know she was pregnant.

According to her testimony, the defendant had the baby on the toilet at home, an “panicked and made a very bad decision,” defense attorney Richard Darden said.
